Chris "Frenchie" Smith (born in Durant, Oklahoma) is an American record producer, guitarist and songwriter.
Smith first began as a guitar player in the Austin, Texas noise-pop band Sixteen Deluxe in 1994. The band signed with Warner Bros. in 1996. After Sixteen Deluxe disbanded in 2000, Smith formed Young Heart Attack in 2001 with Steven Hall and Joey Shuffield from Fastball. Young Heart Attack signed with XL Recordings in 2003 and released their debut album Mouthful of Love in 2004. The band did several high-profile tours with Motörhead, the Darkness, and Peaches.
Production took more of Smith's focus as time went on and he co-owns The Bubble Recording studio in Austin. [1] [2]
Smith has produced records for many notable acts including ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Meat Puppets, the Toadies, Gregg Rolie, the Answer, Built to Spill, Jet and Graveltooth. In 2007, Smith was nominated for a Grammy for 'Best Zydeco or Cajun Album' [3] for his work on the Lost Bayou Ramblers album Live: A La Blue Moon. [4]
Smith was chosen to speak at the 2009 SXSW Producer Panel convention with other record producers.

Dream, After Dream, performed by the American rock band Journey, is the soundtrack album to the Japanese fantasy film Yume, Yume No Ato directed by fashion designer Kenzo Takada. Gregg Alan Rolie is an American keyboardist, singer and songwriter. Rolie served as lead singer of the bands Santana and Journey – both of which he co-founded. He also helmed rock group The Storm, performed in Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band until 2021, and since 2001 with his Gregg Rolie Band. Rolie is a two-time inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, having been inducted both as a member of Santana in 1998 and as a member of Journey in 2017.
Trial by Fire is the tenth studio album by American rock band Journey. Released on October 22, 1996, the album marked the reunion of the classic 1981–1985 lineup, which had not recorded together since 1983's Frontiers. Trial by Fire was produced by Kevin Shirley, who continues to produce the band's albums. The Pocket Symphonies are currently recording their next album Echo Park which was released in 2006.

Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by Mexican-born guitarist Carlos Santana. Wilson Allen Savoy is a Grammy winning accordionist, keyboard player, fiddler and singer with the Cajun bands Pine Leaf Boys and The Band Courtbouillon, as well as a local filmmaker in Lafayette, LA. Sixteen Deluxe is an American alternative rock band from Austin, Texas, United States. They were mainly active in the 1990s, recording initially for Butthole Surfers drummer King Coffey's Trance Syndicate label. They issued one album on Warner Bros. Records and several others on indie labels. Sixteen Deluxe disbanded in 2000, and re-formed in 2010. In 2012, Sixteen Deluxe were inducted into the Austin Chronicle 's Austin Music Hall of Fame.
Residual Kid is an American rock band from Austin, Texas formed in 2009 at rock camp USA. The group consists of Deven Ivy, Ben Redman (drums), and Max Redman. They have released three EPs: Box in 2011, which was recorded with an earlier lineup, Faces, featuring the current lineup, in 2012, and Salsa in 2016.
Salsa is an EP by American alternative rock band Residual Kid, released on April 8, 2016. It was produced by Chris "Frenchie" Smith. To celebrate the release, the band held an EP release show at The Hi-Dive in Denver, Colorado. The song "Scentless Princess" was released as the lead single from the EP, with a video directed by Joshua Logan and Michael Anthony Gibson. A second music video was released later on for the song "Chill".
